I walk around my neighbourhood noticing the different kinds of bricks, the colours and patterns they make. This wall of concrete brick lacework is near the Aladdin's Cave (see earlier post). It makes an interesting contrast to the Victorian and Edwardian houses just down the road.
This wall is on Nicholson Street, it is at the RRR building and I took these photos out of the window of the Number 96 tram which has its terminus just in front. I wonder, does this brick lattice serve a purpose, or is it just to make a cream brick wall more interesting?
The simple pattern of raised bricks on this block of flats on Brunswick Road seems to have been made to cast regular shadows reminiscent of the punched holes on early computer printouts. Perhaps they are of the same era?
My favourite. I love the trim at the top of this wall of beautifully coloured bricks. The font of the sign is also interesting. I hope they keep it there, even though the building does have a more recent entrance building and signage.
